A human chain on land is one thing, but accomplishing a record-breaking attempt at sea is quite another.
Going For Guinness
The Guinness World Book Of Records has long been revered as the place to be listed. On June 16th, Deerfield Beach in Florida will be the location for the next attempt at fame and honor.
Scuba Dive Your Way Into The Record Books
This mass scuba dive calls on all scuba divers in the Florida region to don their wet suits, and become a part of the record-breaking action. An attempt will be made, under water, to form the longest human chain ever recorded. The action will be officiated by a member of the Guinness Book of World Records, making everything above board. The event calls on all certified divers from a variety of institutions to take their place in the winning line-up. For those who aren’t certified, either sign up for an open water dive course as quickly as you can, or make yourself available for other activities of the day. There are 400 or more divers expected to take part on the day. Once the formalities are over, and the record has been quantified, all participants will take part in a clean-up of the Deerfield Beach area. This is conservation drive geared towards awareness, with a dash of fun thrown in.
Celebrate the Diving Community
The attempt is a celebration of the divers, and what they give back to the community. Divers share a passion for the sea, and this will surely bring publicity for the conservation efforts to save marine life. Divers will be rewarded with a UV shirt as well as a certificate as proof of their participation in the event. The greatest reward of all will, however, be a cleaner Deerfield Pier, after the fact.
